Consider volunteering in ministries with a preferred option for the poor as you share your gifts and heart in joyful service. Live in a faith-based supportive community with Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Sisters.
The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ are a group of vowed women religious founded by a young peasant woman in Dernbach, Germany in 1851. Catherine Kasper grew up helping others in ordinary ways. Other young women were compelled by her simplicity, generosity and love for the poor. Together Catherine and these four women formed the religious community of Roman Catholic Sisters called the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ when they professed vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience on August 15, 1851. This ministry has grown to serving today in nine countries around the globe!
We invite you to join Catherine's vision and that of our Sisters. The ripples of shared community, dignity and respect for all, simplicity and openness to the Spirit reach far and wide.
Through your time of service, grow in your ability to hear God's nudges to further service in your life as a single, married or religious woman. The paths to service are abundant and so too can be your life of service!
